Vanilla Custard

This is yummy! Good plain, over fruit, in tarts, éclairs, pies, etc. Try it!
First mixture:
7 cups water
1½ - 1 2/3 cups sugar
½ - 1 tsp salt
Bring ingredients to a boil in a saucepan. Turn off heat and set aside.
Second mixture:
1 cup water
2 cups non-instant powdered milk or 2 2/3 cups instant powdered milk
¾ - 1 cup cornstarch
4 eggs
½ cup cocoa (optional for chocolate flavored)
Blend second mixture ingredients in a blender. Add second mixture to first mixture in saucepan. Turn heat back on and barely bring to a boil, about 2-3 minutes. Add 1 tsp vanilla and ¼ cup sliced butter.
