Lulie’s Molasses Cookies

This is one of my mother-in-law’s favorite cookies.
¾ cup shortening (liquid, scant) 2 tsp baking soda
1 cup sugar ½ tsp ginger
2 cups flour ½ tsp cloves
¼ cup molasses 1 tsp cinnamon
1 egg ½ tsp salt
Cream sugar, molasses, egg & shortening. Sift dry ingredients and add to cream mixture. Dough will be quite stiff. Chill. Form 1” balls and roll in sugar. Bake at 375° for 8-10 minutes.
